Langston

I was sitting back thinking and going through things of the past
When I came upon a book of a great poet that I couldn't pass
I sit back and begin to flip through page by page
And suddenly I am transported to another age
I'm sent to a place were the black man in me thrives
and I begin seeing things through another mans eyes
Through these eyes I live another life
Yet the world hasn't changed and I see the same kinds of love and strife
But with each word
I feel a bounding in my head
And a sadness of a great poet dead
Dead in the physical since
But alive through his words
I feel all the messages given and realize
That though one day I will die
I write so that one day 100 years from now young men and women
May read and see things through my eyes
